having the right car

having the right car for a dog is critical.

my first car was a bmw 320i. zippy, yes - but it was hard to see and the rear windows didn’t roll down. first time i rode in it, i tossed my dog cookies.

the next few cars got worse.

• saab 900 turbo - again great for the people but weak for the dog.

• volkswagon jetta - at least you could roll the back window down and could see.

• 1972 toyota land cruiser - one of the best until i jumped out the rear window. it was on a dusty road and i figured i could make it. i did indeed make it and was very lucky that my people noticed and turned around to come back and pick me up. once i was out and watching them drive away, i recognized that it was a poor choce for a shepherd dog.

finally, the honda crv. plenty of view with the seats turned down and lots of fresh air. this was my perfect cruising mobile.

if i stand by right next to one of the tires, my people will put me in and cruise me to the beach or sometimes just around town. doesn’t hurt to add a little squeak and wag of the tail.

sleeping in

living with people that like to sleep in is not particularly fun if you are a bird.

birds like to get up with the sun, make some noise and celebrate the new day. the way i do it - wait until their first movement and then burst out in chatter and song. luckily they don’t keep me covered. :)
as for the dogs. they sleep all the time anyway. they just don’t get it.
