i have a lot of nicknames.
not sure how soon it began, but i think it was within a few days after my arrival. i was only 8 weeks old then and just learning my dog manners. i had barely gotten used to hearing my name and the nicknames began.
kita b., squid lips, hannan b, greasy, hannan bereford greasy, egbert greasy, effort greasy, tucie [cutie - pronounced tooky] and it just goes on.
now, more than 10 years later, they use any of these names and new ones at a moments notice to get my attention. sometimes i have to think about my real name for a minute when they use it. people that meet me in the park and have no idea what they are calling me. one time someone thought my name was edith and another time it was peter.
oh yeah. my people thought this was funny and called me those names too.
i am glad that people like to have fun. i just wish some of the names weren’t so dorky and that they wouldn’t use them in public.
girard shepherdu, dirgy, james a. double r. tucie, james a., fozzberrie, sweet pea, tufty, little h.b., tucie robes, little robespierre . . .
aw, man.

hats. specifically knit caps are annoying.
whenever my people wear them i jump right on and peck and grab the hat with my beak. then i flap and pull it off.
sometimes it takes several tries.
i can’t stand for people to wear hats. i can’t land on them properly and the had gets stuck to my feet. when the people start walking the hat moves around. it’s awful and makes me angry.
birds do not care if you are bald or your head is cold.

my people always like to say ‘people and dogs - they go together.’
well let me tell you, jazz and dogs - we go together. it has taken my people a while to realize it, but i love jazz. it is fun, contemplative and entertains my brain. just wished they had realized it sooner
when my people are working, they like to listen to electronica and chill. that’s okay, i don’t dislike it, or reggae either. but when they listen to jazz, it makes me happy like no other music.
i like to lie in my bagel bed between the speakers and roll over on my back. then i just soak it all in.
fusion, beboop, standards - it’s all good.
