egbert + ripi: a pet’s eye view

perspective from a pigeon and a dog

best things to do on a hot day

the last few days have been hot.

here in sf we are used to a cooler climate and don’t have any air conditioning. when you are a super fuzzy german shepherd with some husky thrown in the mix, you get hot. here are some of my favorite things to do to cool down.

  • fort funston. i love to go here on a hot day. even if the fog is out there is always a cool pacific breeze. when the fog comes in it comes here first. make sure your people bring a coat. sometimes it can get very cold, very fast when the fog comes in. most people are not fuzzy enough to take it.
  • chrissy field. okay, you all know this is my favorite place. i am not a big fan of waves, so i like to get in the water here. it has little beaches where a dog can really relax and stay cool.
  • frosty paws. i found out about these last year. just a note to the people reading - you can takes these with you to chrissy field. yum.
  • take a bath. many of you dogs and cats are cringing right now, but i like to take a bath. i get in the shower with my people and the put the soap on and give me a good rub down and rinse. my coat stays wet for a long time and i feel really good. plus i get extra love once i am dry.
  • find some trees. when you think of san francisco, you may not think there are forest areas nearby, but there are some great ones. there are still redwood groves and great places for dogs to chill. my favorite places are mt. tamalpais and mendocino county. if you can’t get out of town, there is always golden gate park - trees and grass in one place.

which one shall i do tomorrow?
